Laos has confirmed 826 new Covid-19 cases and five fatalities over the previous 24 hours, according to the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
Of the new cases, 825 were classified as domestic infections including 292 recorded in Vientiane, 146 in Luang Prabang, 140 in Vientiane (province), 58 in Bokeo, and 48 in Champassak.
Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Sisavath Soutthanilaxay told a press conference today that the new infections were detected among 4,941 people tested for Covid-19 yesterday.
The latest infections have brought the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases to 55,018 including 104 deaths and 10,158 active cases.
