AMATA Smart City Project Is In Line With Gov’t Policy, A Meeting Told

(KPL) The government has acknowledged that the proposed AMATA Smart and Eco City project in Luang Namtha and Oudomxay has sound economically analytic results and is in line with the government’s policy, especially on investment promotion, domestic production and development along the Laos-China railway.

At the government’s monthly meeting for October, cabinet members noted that the investors of AMATA Smart and Eco City project is relatively competitive in terms of technical and financial resources and is experienced in implementing major investment projects in Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand, among others, and very committed to realize the project.

They also noted that if the project is actually implemented, it will promote the utilization of the Laos-China railway project and contribute significantly to the national socio-economic development.

The government has assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment to work with relevant sectors and local authorities to consider proposals on the project and discuss with its investors to guaranty both national and people’s interests, ensure negative impacts are avoided.

As for the bilateral cooperation between Laos and its neighbours � Vietnam, China and Cambodia, the government has urged relevant sectors to attach importance to monitoring, promoting the implementation of cooperation documents, projects and activities and to addressing related issues.
