Bokeo bans import of pigs, pork products from or via Luang Namtha

Bokeo province has imposed a temporary ban on import of pigs and all kinds of pork products from or via Luang Namtha province or from Thailand due to outbreak of African swine fever in China, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar and in Luang Namtha province.

Importers wishing to import pig and pork products are required to seek approval from the Department of Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a certificate of origin issued by the department, a farm of origin certificate, and a certificate, issued by a government lab, proving imported pigs or pork products are free of foot-and-mouth disease – FMD, African swine fever – ASF, and pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome – PRRS.
