Chinese traditional-electronic music enhances Laos-China cultural exchange

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, Chinese Cultural Centre in Vientiane and Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau (China) in cooperation with the Faculty of Letters, National University of Laos held a cultural exchange – “Silk Road of Culture: Chinese Traditional and Electronic Music” at the National University of Laos on May 8.

The first of its kind in three years, the concert was performed by Shenzhen shuofeng chamber orchestra.

The concert was attended by Director of Chinese Cultural Centre in Laos Li Yiping, Dean of the Faculty of Letters Thongsouk Keomany, faculty members, students and invited guests.

The concert aimed to promote the beauty of Chinese traditional and electronic music and enhance the traditional relations and mutual understanding between Lao and Chinese people, contributing to cultural exchange between the two countries.

The orchestra played over 10 pieces of music showing a perfect combination between Chinese modern culture and traditional music.

A revised edition of a popular Lao musical piece “Champa Meuang Lao” played with Chinese traditional musical instruments received a loud, sustained applause from the audience.

One day earlier, the orchestra staged a concert at a multifunctional hall of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Laos.

The show drew over 100 representatives of departments, offices under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Chinese enterprises, Chinese community in Vientiane, Lao and Chinese media and Vientiane residents.
