Covid-19: relaxed measures remain through Oct 31

Prime Minister’s Office has issued a notice instructing ministers and provincial governors to continue to put in place relaxed measures against Covid-19 through the end of October.

Traditional and local border checkpoints will remain closed to individual travels, and goods transport (except with permissions from Covid-19 taskforce. International border gates will continue to be closed to individual travels except Lao nationals and foreigners with necessary reasons and granted permissions from the Covid-19 taskforce, and goods transport.

Issuance of tourist visa and visitor visa remain suspended for those travelling from or via countries being hit by Covid-19. Diplomatic officials, officials of international organisations, experts, investors, business people, technical staff and foreign workers wishing to enter the Lao PDR with necessary reasons must seek prior permissions from the Covid-19 taskforce.

Karaoke and entertainment venues will remain closed under the notice, dated Sep 30, 2020.

People travelling from countries with no community transmission of Covid-19 infections must be tested for Covid-19 and if the test result, issued within 48 hours, suggests no infections, they must be quarantined at designated areas or at their own residences (for Lao nationals) according to the recommendations of the Covid-19 taskforce.
