Former President Calls for Agriculture Promotion in Savannakhet

Former President Choummaly Sayasone has urged the authorities and people in Phonsim village, Kaisonephomvihan district, Savannakhet Province to make greater efforts to ensure increased agricultural promotion.

Mr Choummaly made a guidance visit to Phonsim village last week, urging the local administration to focus on making sure that residents have proper knowledge of agricultural production and be able to address their poverty as well as social ills.

He also urged the local authorities to attach greater importance to manufacturing of products unique to the local people and promoting their hard working traditions as well as their fine culture.

Phonsim village is located 18 km from the central administrative district of Savannakhet. The village has a population of 4,000 people, the majority of whom are engaged in agricultural production and livestock farming. The village is famous for organic vegetable production and rice farming.
