Four Lao students set for Erasmus scholarship adventure

Yesterday, the European Union Ambassador to Laos, Ms. Ina Marciulionyte, congratulated in person and online four Lao students for winning the EU scholarship – Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD).

The four top-notch awardees include Ms Anoulack CHANTHAKHAT, Ms Souksavath SANPHASOUK, Mr. Khammeilee VANGXAOLEE and Mr Sithiphone SITHOUMPHALATH.

As from September 2022, they will pursue a master’s degree in the field of Social Work, Global Development Policy, Quaternary and Prehistory, and Sustainable and Innovative Natural Resource Management respectively. During their two-year programme, they will visit several European universities in Denmark, Poland, France, Portugal, Czech Republic, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and UK.

“I am delighted to witness four awardees this year, which is an impressive achievement considering that, since the launch of the newly designed Erasmus Mundus programme in 2014, only two Lao students received this scholarship. These brilliant students will play a vital role in enriching person-to-person relations between Europe and Laos through academic development, European language learning and cultural exchange,” Ambassador Ina said. She also encouraged all Lao students and academics to apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship to join in strengthening Lao-European relations.

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s flagship cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education. It offers opportunities for Lao students who are aspiring to become future leaders to study in European universities and uplift their academic path and professional career. The two-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree opens for applications every year from October to February.
