The French Republic will continue to support Laos in many fields particularly in agriculture, tourism and education, French Ambassador to the Lao PDR Florence Jeanblanc-Risler has said.
The first months of 2020 will be busy, Ambassador Florence told a New Year’s reception held in Vientiane Capital on Jan 14. The signing of the two new projects financed by AFD focusing on justice and heritage in Southern Lao provinces will enhance our cooperation. We will continue to pay attention to the economic, social and environmental challenges of the country and work hand to hand with the Lao government in the preparation of the 9th NSEDP.
She highlighted French government’s commitment to support sustainable development in agriculture, tourism and education in the Lao PDR, and to strengthen the process of opening the country.
She said that all French actions and projects were designed to include the regional dynamic, of which Laos is now a stakeholder with its partners from ASEAN, and more widely from the Indo-Pacific region.
”2019 was an eventful year. I will only mention two of them: the celebration of 25th anniversary of AFD in Laos and the visit to France last month by Mr Saleumxay Kommasith, the Minister of Foreign affairs,” said the ambassador.
The New Year’s reception was also attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Phouang Parisak Pravongviengkham, Deputy Minister of Health Phouthone Meuangpak and other senior officials from relevant government offices.
