(KPL) Hungarian President Janos Ader has paid his first state visit to the Lao PDR, Oct 24-27, in response to the invitation of President Bounnhang Vorachit to enhance the traditional relations and cooperation between Laos and Hungary.
A welcome ceremony in the honour of the visiting Hungarian President was held at Presidential Palace, Vientiane Capital on Oct 25 by President Bounnhang Vorachit and senior officials of the Lao PDR.
The bilateral meeting between the two presidential delegations was held afterward where President Bounnhang Vorachit highly appreciated the state visit to the Lao PDR by President Janos as a significant contribution to enhancing the relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides noted that the relations and cooperation between the two countries has been strengthened unstoppably and multidimensionally since the two countries established their diplomatic ties in 1962 as the two countries have regularly exchanged official visits at all levels ranging from government leaders to technical levels.
The two countries have deepened mutual understanding and supported each others at regional and international arenas.
The Lao side expressed gratitude to the Hungarian government for its technical assistance to the Lao PDR in the areas of agriculture and education, as well as its provision of no-interest loans.
Both sides also discussed ways to enhance relations and cooperation in various areas, especially politics, diplomacy, agriculture, education, trade and investment, finance, science and technology, natural resources and environment, and sustainable water management and other areas in which the two countries are competitive.
They also shared views about regional and international issues of common interest.
Besides to meeting with senior officials of the Lao PDR, the Hungarian President and his delegation also laid a wreath at the Monument of Unknown Solders and visited Nam Houm Fish Seed Production Centre which is one of Lao-Hungarian cooperation projects.
The Hungarian Presidential delegation also met with the Lao-Hungarian Friendship Association and the Hungarian scholarship alumni and visited historic and cultural places in Vientiane before heading to Luang Prabang.
