Japan Supports Lao PDR In Prevention Efforts Against Spread of COVID-19

The Government of Japan will assist the Lao PDR to prevent the spread of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) with the provision of 4,680 isolation gowns, 6,000 particulate masks, 13,200 surgical masks, 240 bottles of alcohol hand rub, 270 pieces of goggles and 12,200 pieces of disposable gloves.

These items are sourced from the reserves of personal protective equipment stockpiled by Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and financed by an in-kind contribution from the Government of Japan. The items will be transferred to the Lao PDR from a warehouse in Singapore in coordination with the WHO Regional Office for Western Pacific (WPRO).

Enhancing international cooperation is indispensable for the prevention of the further spread of COVID-19 infections worldwide.

As such, Japan will continue to strengthen its cooperation with the Lao PDR. Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) was founded in 1996 in Singapore as a permanent body of Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to engage in multiple activities with a focus on the socio-cultural field.
