Lao Gov’t Awards Victorious Medals of Liberty to Xinhua

(KPL) Lao Government has awarded Second Class Victorious Medal of Liberty to the Xinhua News Agency and pinned Third Class Victorious Medal of Liberty on its president Cai Mingzhao.

An award ceremony for Xinhua and its president was held in Vientiane Capital on February 2 on the sidelines of the Laos � China Belt and Road Cooperation Forum in recognition of their collective and individual contributions to the development of the Lao News Agency (KPL) over past five decades.

January 6, 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the Lao News Agency.

Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdara, representing the Lao Government presented and pinned the medals on President of Xinhua News Agency Cai Mingzhao in the presence of Head of the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Board Kikeo Khaikhamphithoun, representatives from line ministries and relevant officials of both sides.

President of the Xinhua News Agency, Mr Cai Mingzhao expressed thanks to the Government of Lao PDR for awarding him and his organization the Victorious Medals of Liberty.

This is a great honour to all staff of the Xinhua News Agency and it really inspires me to continue to make efforts to enhance the long traditional friendship between Laos and China as well as to contribute to realizing the synergy of China’s Belt and Road initiative and Laos’ strategy on transforming itself from a landlocked country into a land-linked nation, he said.

Xinhua president also pledged to continue to strengthen the relations and cooperation between the Xinhua News Agency and its counterpart Lao News Agency and publish more news reports about Laos.
