Lao Skyway and the Military Science and History Department of the Lao People’s Army won the 4th National Volleyball Competition on December 3.
The Lao Skyway men’s team and the women’s team of the Military Science and History Department were awarded trophies by the Minister of Education and Sports and 12 million kip cash each (almost US$1,500).
Second prizes (8 million kip each) were awarded to the Ministry of Public Security men’s team and the Lao People’s Army women’s team.
Third prizes were awarded to the Lao People’s Army men’s team, and the Ministry of Public Security women’s team.
The competition was held from Nov 27-Dec 3 and drew 16 teams, including 11 men’s teams and six women’s teams, said the Acting President of the Lao National Volleyball Federation, Mr Chansamone Phongchantha.
The competition was designed to select players to compete at the international level and celebrate National Day and the 96th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane.
A closing ceremony for the sporting event was held on Dec 3 in the presence of Assistant Minister of Education and Sports, Mr Somphou Phongsa.
