The Ministry of Labour and Social-Welfare has been making efforts to supply a sufficient labour force to meet the high demand of the market, amounting to 143,230 workers for 2017.
The ministry plans to create a database on the labour market to make sure that there is a balance between the demand and supply of labourers and also to help local workers access the labour market.
The proportion of the labour force required for the agriculture sector is about 64.5 percent, with industry making up 18 percent and services making up 23 percent.
“The ministry will also control the unemployment rate at about 2%,” said the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mr Khampheng Xaysompheng at an annual nationwide meeting on technical labour and social welfare held on December 26.
The ambitious plan has been made in line with the 8th five-year plan of socio-economic development to materialize the resolution of the Party congress.
