Laos-China railway expected to be open to traffic in late 2021

Contractors have confirmed more than 90% of the construction work of the Laos-China Railway project has been carried out since late 2016 as the whole project is expected to be fully completed by December 2021.

The China-Laos railway will run 417 km from a Laos-China border crossing in Boten, Luang Namtha province in northern Laos, to Vientiane.

Track laying has reached 166.6 km, representing 40% of the track laying plan, and is expected to be completed by the end of June next year.

The China Railway No.2 Engineering Group, which is in charge of the track laying for the multibillion-dollar project, lays 1.5 km of rail tracks every day.
