Laos, R. Korea exchange lessons on E-government

(KPL) The E-government Centre, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of Laos in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea held a workshop on E-government development in Laos and the Republic of Korea in Vientiane, Lao PDR on Dec 5.

This workshop aims to disseminate and exchange lessons on the state of e-government development and the application of such systems to single window services using the internet, taxation, human resource management, forest management, and disaster management.

E-government is a very important sector and an integral part of the integration for all sectors to ensure the effectiveness of the performance of the government, delivering public services to people using electronic means. This will help increase the effectiveness, promptness, cost and time efficiency, and safety. This is in line with the policy of our government to modernize public governance, said Director General of E-government Centre Mr Thavisak Manotham

Lessons and experiences on e-government in the Republic of Korea were presented and discussed at the workshop as the Korea is well-known for implementing single window mechanisms, e-taxation and e-management of human resources, according to Mr Shin Seung In, Director of Information Security Department, Ministry of Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea.
