Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Lao PDR Shin Sungsoon and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane joined other government officials of the two countries in a ceremony to unveil the logo of the 25th anniversary of Laos-Korea diplomatic relations in Vientiane on Aug 11.
The embassy of the Republic of Korea has organised a competition to decide the logo to be used for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Laos-Republic of Korea diplomatic relations – October 25, 1995-2020.
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Shin compared RoK-Laos’ 25 years of relationship to youth with vitality. He particularly praised the cooperation between the two countries which has made the Republic of Korea the 2nd biggest donor for the Lao PDR since 2015.
“This competition demonstrates the participation of the people of the two nations in demonstrating their talents and creativity to design the symbol of friendship between the Lao PDR and the Republic of Korea, which reflects friendship and good cooperation between the two countries over the past two and a half decades,” said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane.
“My inspiration to design this logo is a Hanbok bow of Korean women and a bow tied on hear knot of Lao women. They represent the close relationship between Laos and the Republic of Korea,” said Mr Khamkeuth Fankham, the first winner of Laos-RoK diplomatic ties logo competition.
Mr Xayaphone Bouachanthalah, also a Lao national, has won the second prize as Korean man Yoo Gwang has won the third place of the competition.
