The presentation of the certificate took place on the sidelines of the Forum of Minister of Culture in the framework of the 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference held in the UNESCO’s headquarters, Paris, France, on Nov 19.
The Forum is a major event to discuss the central place of culture in public policies around the world and its impact on sustainable development.
The forum was attended by more than 140 ministers and high representatives.
UNESCO, the only United Nations agency for culture, is returning to the tradition of ministerial meetings in the field of culture, 21 years after the Intergovernmental Conference on Cultural Policies for Development held in Stockholm, Sweden in 1998.
During the past years, our government pays a great attention to the preservation and development of our national culture. Our basic concept is preservation for sustainable development and development for effective preservation, so that our culture could preserve its national identity, could become more and more popular for the mass of our multi-ethnic people, and at the same time should be progressive and modern by smoothly and harmoniously combining the most authentic identity of our multi-ethnic culture with the best elite of the diverse and multi-color culture in the world, Mr Bosengkham Vongdara told the meeting.
