Local people have been advised to buy consumer goods stamped with price labels and logos in Lao language.
The Head of the Domestic Trade Promotion Department, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Mr Somxay Nonglath, made a commitment on March 22 to penalize and fine merchants who are do not stick price labels and are involved in selling smuggled goods.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has recently issued an order making it mandatory for local merchants, producers and distributors to put price labels on their products and other kind of foods and get rid of expired products, Mr Somxay said.
This measure on stamping price labels and expiry dates on products will protect both the buyers and vendors.
This year, a plan has been introduced to monitor and control stamping price labels on products and expired products in factories and markets for four times.
The general public can complain via a telephone hotline (No 1510) of the Domestic Trade Promotion Department, Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
Currently, the Domestic Trade Promotion Department, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, is responsible for controlling and monitoring the stamping price labels and expired date on products.
