MLC Journalists Help Promote Laos Tourism

Media officials and journalists from the six member countries of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) framework on Jul 5 visited Luang Prabang City, a well-known tourist destination in the Lao PDR.

The media trip was a sidelines event of Mekong-Lancang Media Summit held in Vientiane on Jul 1-3.

They were from Cambodia, China, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. They visited four favorite tourist attractions of the city including Xiengthong Temple; Phusi Stupa where visitors can enjoin 360 degree view of Luang Prabang City and the confluence of Mekong and Khan rivers and a beautiful sunset; and Luang Prabang National Museum which used to be the royal palace of late King Sisavang Vatthana.

The well-known tourist attractions bring 600-700 visitors a day to Luang Prabang City during peak season, between October and May, as the weather is more pleasant during this time. Meanwhile, only 300 domestic and foreign visitors visit these places between June and September as this time is hot and rainy.
