The Nam Theun 2 Power Company held a workshop on May 26 with the Khammuan Technical Vocational College to encourage lesson exchanges on hydropowerand urge students of the college to take courses related to hydropower.
The workshop saw the presence of Director of Khammuan Technical Vocational College Viengsavanh Phatthavong, Vice Director of Nam Theun 2 Power Company Akkachard Chaisuwan, teachers and students of the college and relevant officials.
Lecturers from Nam Theun 2 provided the participants information about hydropower, its pros and cons and hydropower potential in the Lao PDR.
The workshop was held under the agreement on human resource development for hydropower industry between the Nam Theun 2 and the college, which aims to encourage interest in taking courses related to hydropower among students of the college, thus ensuring their access to employment.
The company has been committed to cooperating with vocational institutes at college and university levels to work on the adjustment of courses taught to suit the needs of the hydropower industry.
Today, Nam Theun 2 provides 34 scholarships to students of colleges and universities in Khammuan, and in cooperation with the French embassy, is sending 11 students to study engineering, maintenance, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in France.
