(KPL) Over 200 exhibitors from provinces across the country have participated in the Lao Handicrafts Festival 2019 under the theme Promote Lao Handicrafts Through Tourism.
The festival is being held at the Lao-ITECC, Vientiane Capital, Oct 26- Nov 3.
The opening ceremony of the event saw the presence of Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith’s spouse Naly Sisoulith, Minister of Industry and Commerce Khemany Pholsena, Minister of Labour and Social Welfares Khampheng Saysompheng, Minister of Science and Technology Boviengkham Vongdara, representatives of international organizations and relevant offices.
The objective of the festival is to raise public awareness of preserving and promoting local handicrafts and culture, President of the Lao Handicraft’s Association Hansana Sisane told the opening ceremony on Tuesday.
Lao Handicrafts 2019 has been held every year since 2001.
General public members as well as entrepreneurs will be given an opportunity to exchange knowledge and lessons on how to improve their products to satisfy market demand. Festival goers will also have an opportunity to taste tea and coffee from 18 provinces across the country.
