PM asks more efforts to ensure law obedience among businesses

Prime Minister ThonglounSisoulith has called on the core cadres and leading officials of the national chamber to make sure that the Party guideline, government’s laws and regulations are respected by local businesses and build stronger solidarity among businesses and entrepreneurs.

Addressing the gathering of over 400 officials of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) in Vientiane, Prime Minister Thongloun on Friday asked the chamber to help create favourable conditions for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the investment by foreign companies.

The 7th meeting of the National Chamber of Industry and Commerce was held at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane where its participants reviewed the performance of the chamber over the past three years and approved plans to be fulfilled through 2019.

Delivering a report at the meeting, President of the National Chamber of Industry and Commerce OudetSouvannavong highlighted efforts made by the chamber in strengthening local businesses as well as its active external cooperation under regional frameworks namely ASEAN, ASEAN+3, ASEAN-China, GMS, CLMV, ACNECS, GIZ and others.

Among achievements highlighted by the president of the chamber was the establishment of the ASEAN-SMEs Service Centre to help promote the growth of local SMEs.

MrOudet, who was re-elected at the meeting as the president of the chamber, said that Chamber’s plan for the next three years would focus on efforts to strengthen local business sector, promote the investment of domestic and foreign companies and encourage business community to take part in implementing the national socio-economic development plan of the government.
