Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith paid a guidance visit to the steel factory of Vientiane Steel Industry and the camera part factory of Tokyo Coil (Lao) in Hadxayfong district, Vientiane on Sep 11.
The Prime Minister aimed his visit at promoting the growth of the businesses, giving guidance to the two companies and ensuring they operate their businesses according to the policy of the Party and government.
Established in 1994, the VSI factory launched its commercial production in 1996, manufacturing mild steel round bars and deformed steel bars under the trademark of VSI. In early years of its production, the factory produced 30,000-40,000 tonnes of steel annually using cutting edge technology.
Today the factory can manufacture up to 350,000 tonnes of steel per year.
The Prime Minister appreciated the company for making achievements in producing high quality steel for domestic market and creating a number of jobs for Lao people.
He urged the company to continue to produce more steel bars that meet international standards, and comply with environment friendly and safety standards.
As for the camera part factory of Tokyo Coil (Lao), the Prime Minister appreciated the company for the achievements it has made and asked the company to increase its production of camera parts to meet the demand of domestic and export markets.
