President Bounnhang Visits Cambodia

President Bounnhang Vorachit on Feb 9 visited Cambodia in response to the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni between Feb 9-10.

Following a welcome ceremony hosted in honour of President Bounnhang at Royal Palace in Phnom Penh by Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, the two state leaders held talks.

Both sides highly valued the traditional relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of upgrading the relations to comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership in 2019.

The two state leaders agreed to urge relevant sectors of their respective countries to strengthen cooperation mostly in the fields of politics, economy, defense and public security.

As for border issues, both sides urged relevant sectors of the two countries to hold talks and attach importance to the implementation of the agreement between Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen.

The president also met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Heng Samrin and President of the Senate of Cambodia Say Chhum. The president and the hosts informed each other of achievements in socio-economic development in their respective countries and appreciated the successful cooperation, especially after the two countries upgraded their relations to comprehensive and long lasting strategic partnership and shared points of view on regional and international issues of common interest.
