(KPL) Japanese Ambassador to Laos, Mr Keizer Takewaka hosted a reception on the occasion of the 25th ASEAN Council of Japan Alumni (ASCOJA) Conference in Vientiane on Oct 5.
The reception was attended by Minister of Education and Sports Sengdeuan Lachanthaboun who is also President of the Laos-Japan Friendship Association, Japan’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs Kenji Wakamiya, and ASCJA members.
It is the first time for Laos to host the Conference of ASCOJA, which is a regional association comprised of major alumni organizations in all the 10 ASEAN countries from former graduates, scholars, students and trainees of Japanese universities, schools and training institutions. To this conference, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a congratulatory message.
Ambassador Takewaka expressed his deepest appreciation to JAOL members for their hard work and preparation as well as the very successful organisation of the conference. ASCOJA members were able to exchange insights in very productive and fruitful discussions, under the theme Succeeding Together: ASEAN and Japan Towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
I was very impressed by the fact that alumni of Japan gathered every year and discussed the way to deepen the good relationship with Japan, said Mr Kenji Wakamiya. He also expected that ASCOJA will continue this excellent activity while supporting one other.
Ms Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun welcomed ASCOJA member’s visit to Laos. She expressed her appreciations to JAOL and ASEAN members for their supports to make this conference successful.
She also thanked Japanese people and Japanese government for all supports to Lao athletes and wished to see all athletes around the world, including Lao athletes, to come together in the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic 2020.
