(KPL) Thursday, Oct 24, witnessed companies making donations worth over 80 million kip to be used as aid for relief and recovery efforts in flood-hit central and southern Laos.
The donors included Bank Golf Club (55 million kip), Vientiane Center 20 million kip and Lao Securities Exchange stakeholders 10 million kip.
The handover took place between representatives of the donors and Mr Khamkan Phimsavanh, General Director of the Personnel and Organsation Department, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfares.
Between Sep 7 and Oct 23, donations made by individuals and organisations of the public and private sectors amounted to more than 19 billion kip, according to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.
Podul and other storms left Khammuan, Savannakhet, Saravan, Xekong, Champassak and Attapeu severe floods between late August and early September.
The flooding is the worst for the region in more than 40 years.
