Singapore Supports Law Drafting In Laos

The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) of Singapore, with support from the Ministry of Justice of the Lao PDR and the Singapore Embassy in Vientiane, is conducting a train-the-trainers Legislation Workshop for 50 senior Lao officials from Apr 23 26, 2018.

Through the workshop, the AGC aims to share Singapore’s experiences and help improve the capacity of Laos’ legal drafters.

In this way, Singapore hopes to support the Lao PDR in its efforts to enhance the rule of law in the country.

The workshop topics include translating policy into legislations and legislation drafting.

The participants of the workshop comprise officials from the Ministry of Justice and law drafters from line ministries.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was held at Lao Plaza Hotel on 23 Apr 2018 and officiated by Vice Minister of Justice Seumsouk Simphavong, Singapore’s Ambassador to Laos Dominic Goh, Singapore’s Chief Legislative Counsel Owi Beng Ki, and Director General of Legislation Department of the Ministry of Justice Ianthapanya Khieovongphachanh.
