Strengthening Provincial RRT on Surveillance, Response To Covid-19 In Laos

The Ministry of Health in cooperation with United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Defense Threat Reduction Agency and World Health Organisation In Laos organized a workshop on Surveillance and Response To 2019-n-CoV (now called Covid-19) for Provincial Rapid Response Team (RRT).

The workshop aimed to provide the participants an opportunity to be updated on global situation and a response strategy on Covid 19 in the Lao PDR.

There is no any novel coronavirus case in the Lao PDR, Dr. Phonepadith Xangsayarath, Director of National Center for Labortory and Epidemiology, MOH, said on Feb 13.

The workshop aims to provide refresher training and practice current guidance on case detection, investigation and contact tracing for provincial Rapid Response Teams as well as to raise awareness of 2019-n-CoV (Covid-19) case management, infection, prevention control and practice appropriate use of personal protective equipment – PPE – for case screening, case investigation and laboratories, said Dr Phonepadith.

As of Friday morning, Feb 14, almost 60,000 people have been infected with Covid 19 with 1,369 dead and over 6,100 recovered in China.
