Kasemrad International Hospital, affiliated to Bangkok Chain Hospital Public, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its first Vientiane-based branch last Friday.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Director General of Bangkok Chain Hospital Public Chalerm Harnphanich.
The new hospital will be built in Sisattanak district at a cost of more than US$70 million over the next eight years.
The first phase of the project, between 2018-2020, will involve the construction of a 7-storey building with a total floor space of 26,843 sq m. A 6-storey building will be built in the second phase of the project (2020-2006). It will have a total floor space of 2,756 sq m.
The two buildings will be equipped with 240 rooms, including 96 rooms in the first building and 144 rooms in the second one.
The hospital will be built to international standards to ensure it can provide standard medical service to local patients thus helping reduce the number of patients seeking medical services overseas.
