The government of the United Kingdom has donated 415,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to the Lao PDR.
The handover of the vaccine took place in Vientiane on Monday, Aug 2, between British ambassador to the Lao PDR John Pearson and Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith.
UK and other development partners have learned about the Lao PDR’s policy of having 50 per cent of Lao people vaccinated against Covid-19 by the end of 2021, and have realized the difficulties the Lao PDR is facing in procuring Covid-19 vaccines, according to the health minister.
Development partners and international organizations are expected to donate 7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to the Lao PDR by the end of this year.
