Students nominated from each country and region are invited to Japan to take part in the Festival under the framework of JENESYS 2019, which is supported by the Japanese government.

The theme of the film competition changes every year, and this year it is “How do you think about causing others trouble. Is it okay if only you are good? Can you think about the other people?”.

The top three films from the Lao PDR, The Choices, Don’t make trouble involving me by students from Homsavan Secondary School, and THE FREAKS created by students of Sengdara School, were selected by the committee comprising of the Department of Cinema and the Embassy of Japan.

During their stay in Japan, the Lao students will attend the award ceremony and events related to the Film Festival to nurture their creativity through exchanges with young filmmakers.
