Ambulances provided to Central, Provincial and Community Hospitals

Yesterday witnessed Deputy Minister of Health Sanong Thongsana handing over ambulances to representatives of central, provincial and community hospitals in 11 provinces nationwide.

The handover ceremony was held at the Ministry of Health between Deputy Minister of Health Sanong Thongsana and representatives of the recipient hospitals.

The vehicles are among 50 ambulances worth US$2.7 million to be given to central, provincial and community hospitals across the country. They have been procured with a loan from the Asian Development Bank.

“The ambulances have been divided into two batches with the first batch presented today to recipient hospitals in 11 provinces. Due to Covid-19 we cannot hold a handover ceremony with the participation of all recipients so the second batch will be handed over on Sep 28-29,” said the Deputy Minister.

Addressing the handover ceremony, the Deputy Minister expressed his hope that the ambulances will be used for health services including Covid-19 related services and other emergencies to ensure health logistics and people’s access to health services, achieve the five-year health development plan of the government and indicators thus ensuring Laos’ graduation from the least developed country status.
