The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Saturday reported 156 new COVID-19 cases and one new death over the past 24 hours, bringing the national total to 15,761cases and 16 deaths.
Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvan told a press conference in Vientiane today that the new death was a 31-years-old man in Songkhone district, Savannakhet Province.
Of the latest cases, 92 were imported and 64 were classified as locally transmitted infections.
The imported cases, dominated by migrant workers returning from neighboring countries, were identified in Saravan 46, Savannakhet 17, Champassak 12, Luang Prabang 7, Vientiane 7, Khammuan 2 and Sayaboury 1.
The local infections were reported in Khammuan 25, Champassak 20, Savannaket 6, Vientiane 6, Luang Prabang 5 and Bokeo 2.
