The National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has reported one new case of local transmission in Vientiane on Jun 17.
“The new COVID-19 case has brought the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 2,034 including 1,924 recoveries, 107 active cases and three deaths,” Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control under the Ministry of Health Phonepaserd Sayamoungkhoun told a press conference in Vientiane this morning.
Some 14 patients of Covid-19 were discharged from hospital today.
“While there is a downward trend in daily new cases recorded across the country, all residents must strictly abide by lockdown orders issued by relevant authorities at all levels to ensure the COVID-19 measures can be further relaxed and life gradually return to normalcy,” said Dr Health Phonepaserd Sayamoungkhoun.
Over 1.13 million people across the country have been vaccinated against Covid-19 with 719,562 given first doses and 414,785 fully vaccinated, according to the Centre of Information and Education for Health, Ministry of Health.
