Private firm IDP exports 100 tonnes of sticky rice using Laos-China Railway

IDP Company has recently shipped 100 tonnes of Lao sticky rice to China via the Laos-China Railway.
The ceremony for the rice shipment was held at the Southern Vientiane Station of the Laos-China Railway on May 28. This is the first time the company has exported rice overseas using the Laos-China Railway.
IDP has been investing in rice production industry in the Lao PDR since 2015, with four major rice mills operated in Savannakhet and Champassak.
Each year, IDP purchases 60,000 tonnes of rice from local farmers. Of the volume, 30,000 tonnes are exported to Europe, China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
China is expected to become the Lao PDR’s largest rice export market.
 IDP is also promoting organic rice production of 1,500 families (5,000 ha) nationwide.
