(KPL) The French food festival – Goût de France/Good France – will be held at the Residence of the French Ambassador to the Lao PDR in Vientiane on Mar 23-29.
Chefs from well-known restaurants in Vientiane namely Bistrot 22, l’Adresse La Signature, You Na, l’Atmo and Paradise will participate in the festival.
“It has been 10 years since the “Gastronomic meal of the French” became part of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage. All over the world, for 6 years, Good France has gathered lovers of good food and good eating. I want to believe that such a longevity and that the increasing amount of restaurants involved in this event shows strong evidence of its quality,” said Mrs Florence Jeanblanc-Risler, Ambassador of France to the Lao PDR, told a press conference in Vientiane on Mar 14.
“For this 6th edition of Good France, the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs decided to focus, like last year, on sustainable development. Good products’ lovers cannot do anything but commit to the preservation of land,” said Ambassador Florence Jeanblanc-Risler.
France is committed beside them, as evidenced by the publishing on every continent in 2019 of the responsible gastronomy White Paper. I know that French restaurateurs in Laos and other countries are currently taking groundbreaking initiatives in order to reduce their environmental impact and to select the best local products. I cannot do otherwise than encourage them, especially since those are key topics for Lao PDR.
Each year, Good France celebrates the terroirs by highlighting one French region. This year, the Centre Val de Loire region is going to have the honor as a region deeply attached to its traditions. In France, we call it “France’s garden”. It will inspire our French Chefs for Good France week. This region, which is crossed throughout by the Loire river, and located in the west of France, embodies the sweetness of a life by the water. These characteristics, you can easily find them here, in Luang Prabang, Pakse, Vientiane, when dining on the Mekong banks.
“I want to believe that conviviality and sharing are not empty words, neither in France nor Laos. It’s time to put these values into practice, and taste right now and between the 23rd and the 29th of March the special menus prepared by the French restaurants of Vientiane. See you at La Signature, Atmc Bistro 22, L’adresse, Paradice and YouNa, and let yourselves be surprised by our talented chef creations,” said the ambassador.
