Ambassador of Japan to Laos, Mr Takewaka Keizo hosted a reception to celebrate His Majesty Emperor Naruhito’s forthcoming 60th birthday of 23 February 2020 at his residence in Vientiane on Feb 18.
The reception also celebrated the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Lao PDR as well as the 5th anniversary of the strategic relationship between the two countries.
The reception was the first of its kind held in the Lao PDR during Japan’s new Reiwa era.
At the reception, Ambassador Takewaka made a speech commemorating the achievements in strengthening the relationship between Japan and the Lao PDR in various fields.
He mentioned about the intensive-meeting, including at the Prime Minister’s level, growing economic relations and exchanges in the field of youth and sports.
He also reiterated Japan’s intention to be a steady and reliable partner of the Lao PDR.
Mr Saleumxay Kommasith, Minister of Foreign Affairs also made a speech commemorating the day. Minister Saleumxay extended best wishes to Mr Bounnhang Vorachith, President of the Lao PDR and His Majesty Naruhito, the Emperor of Japan.
The new logo was unveiled celebrating the 65th anniversary of the bilateral relations as well as the 5th anniversary of the strategic relationship.
The logo boasts an elephant and sakura flower (Japanese cherry blossom) representing the shape of the figure sixty-five, symbolizing the long, strong friendship between Japan and the Lao PDR.
At the reception, Ambassador Takewaka presented a assented a commendation award to Mr Thepmahavixay Saythilath in recognition of his contribution to deepening mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the Lao PDR.
Representatives of Japanese companies and NGOs conducting activities in the Lao PDR also displayed their activities.
Attended by Minister of Education and Japan Friendship Association, Ms Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr Lien Thikeo, Former President of the Laos-Japan Friendship Association, Ponmek Dalaloy, President of the Laos-Japan Parliamentarians Association, Mr Khenthong Nuanthasing, Group another prominent guests from the fields of government business, and culture.
